6 Colorado Facts You Forgot You Knew

1. For a quick drive through dramatic scenery, you can't beat The Garden of the Gods.

2. The lowest point in the state is at the Kansas border, 3,317 feet above sea level. Colorado is the only state which is all over 3,280 feet (1,000 meters). However, almost half the state is flat or rolling rather than mountainous.

3. The state motto, Nil sine numine, is Latin for "Nothing without providence."

4. Approximately half the population of the state describe themselves as religiously unaffiliated.

5. Focus on the Family, a Christian ministry founded by James Dobson, has its international headquarters in Colorado Springs. Their bookstore carries the Bill the Warthog books (and the current stock is signed by the author!)

6. Colorado's nickname is "The Centennial State." As you remember, it was admitted as the 38th state on August 1, 1876.
